Some people have asked
how this statistical ranking is derived. Because we want this to remain a "Drifters Thing", not all details
will be revealed, but here are the basics:
It starts with the development of a "league constant" for
each league. This begins with a ratio of run-outs to games played. Leagues where there have not been any runouts
use a ratio of .1/games played. Then a standard deviation for all leagues is figured, and from that an additional adjustment
is derived.
For each individual, the ratio of games won to games lost is multiplied by the ratio of points scored
in losses to points given up in losses. The league constant is thrown into the mix. For people in multiple leagues,
each league is figured separately. The results are then applied in porportion. For example, a person who has played
60 games in one league, 30 games in another league, and subbed for 10 games in a third league has a total of 100 games.
Thus, their ranking in the league with 60 games is multiplied by 60%, then added to their ranking for the 30 games multiplied
by 30% and their ranking for the 10 games multiplied by 10%.
